Deploy Dockerized Web API application on Amazon EC2 with RDS

Rails API application that we are going to deploy is the one I used in Episode #5 .

Following are the steps to walk through,

  1. Create docker compose to test the dockerized Rails API application on local
  2. Create docker compose file for staging environment to be setup on AWS
  3. Spin up a new RDS Instance for MySQL database for the staging environment
  4. Using AWS IAM, create a new user on AWS with API access permissions
  5. Use AWS Command Line Interface to configure API access
  6. Spin up Amazon EC2 instance using docker machine with amazonec2 driver
  7. Deploy the application on EC2 using docker compose and test
