Summary

Rails API application that we are going to deploy is the one I used in Episode #5 .

Following are the steps to walk through,

  1. Create a docker-compose to test the dockerized Rails API application on local
  2. Create a docker-compose file for staging environment to be set up on AWS
  3. Spin up a new RDS Instance for MySQL database for the staging environment
  4. Using AWS IAM, create a new user on AWS with API access permissions
  5. Use AWS Command Line Interface to configure API access
  6. Spin up Amazon EC2 instance using docker-machine with amazonec2 driver
  7. Deploy the application on EC2 using docker-compose and test
